Ron Paul first ran for the President of United States of America in 1988 on the Libertarian Party's ticket while registered as a Republican. In March 12, 2007 he entered this year's presidential election and placed second and third in many states during the Republican primaries, and defeated John McCain in some of them. The congressman's political views are often described as constitutionalist and libertarian.
