Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Needless to say, it can capture a moment full of promise and hope more than any collection of words possibly could.
These pictures, put in larger context with Nepali people’s struggle through many generations, reflect some of the current sentiments of those in Nepal more vividly. I particularly found the old lady’s picture (who is actually blind and travels 2 hours on foot to cast a vote) simply too strong an image to overlook the strength – both physical and psychological – of Nepali people. Hopefully the politicos will yield to people’s desire to move the country forward this time around.
I read somewhere that the turnout was more than 60%, which, given Nepal’s geography, is still fairly high me thinks.
Thank you N’ Tara for giving us a glimpse of REAL and everyday people whose story often gets overlooked in the process.
