So anyway, I was sitting by the bar on the very last day of convention, which I ended up attending inadvertantly. Sitting next to me was a guy, a Nepali dude of course, devouring on jumbo shrimps and gulping on Samual Adams. Few minutes later the dude very furtively slips out, sticking the bartenders with $30 tab. Apparently, the bar had manged to get stiffed for about another $1000 as our drunk brothers decided to stop paying and walked away with ‘free’ booze the previous night.

isn’t there a major war going on somewhere?

July 12th, 2006

what sort of a question is that? there hasn’t been a time in our lifetime when a major war wasn’t going on somewhere. so what is the point of the question?!

i attended a very strict boarding school growing up, and the administrator’s question reminds me of the reprimands i would receive.

for the record: this is a message board, correct?

but to answer the queries: i wanted to pose a rhetorical question to see if there would be response.

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.

That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man’s skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.

That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.

War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south -
War - war -
Rumours of war.

I think it can be safely concluded that conflict is in human nature, and war is a reality of human existence… the sad truth is, wars only ‘end’ when one party is ‘victorious’… as i attempt to understand the human condition and the complexities of conflict resolution, the harsh reality appears to be that, the ‘solution’ to the current ‘war’ is destruction of a nation (whichever one it may be)…

getting back to ANA, i was hoping to run into some samudayans as well but alas… i was there pretty much everyday as I was running a camp for the youth… i was bit disapointed by the lack of participation, but the convention as a whole seemed to lack certain motivation for activities that didn’t involve alcohol… that is normally the case in these events, and i must confess that i do enjoy a drink or five with my daju-bhais, but this one was particularly uneventful…
