Kathmandu felt an unprecedented Red presence on Friday, June 2nd. Hundreds of busloads poured into the capital to, literally, paint the town red. Brandishing red shirts, flags, and bandanas, CPM Maoist party workers directed traffic, drinking water supply and thronging crowds in a showcase of effective mobilization. In preparation of the arrival of their hundreds of thousands, the party summoned schools, churches, business houses and other 'neutral' parties to provide room and board.

Continued from Part 1: Caught in the excitement

Strangers work together to remove the barbed wire fencing. No sign of the police or army yet.

A man looks on in awe as people break through to occupy the Tudikhel parapets, previously reserved exclusively for royalty, the army and special guests.

The excitement soars as more people rush the parapets.

It's an uncanny sense of victory; these women shout Tudikhel hamro ho!

A group of Army and policemen hang back behind the parapets. Party workers assure them that they're trying to keep people calm.

People brave tall fences to get into Tudikhel.

Kedar and Keshav Humagain stand in the middle of Tudikhel, watching the chaos around them. They live in Sankhu and are in town for the day.

People watch curiously as this man mikes 'Tudikhel kabja bhayeko cha!'.

A fruity faceoff.

Outside Tudikhel, people pick up pamphlets from the ground; this one apparently doesn't say anything too exciting.

As the main event begins to wind down in Khula Manch, party volunteers still maintain their places on the streets.

At the Tinkune crossing, they assist out-of-towners get on the right busses to the right places.

LONG LIVE THE VICTORY OF PEOPLE’S WAR!
On the glorious occasion of the People’s War in Nepal we salute and support the solidarity to the valiant militants and fighters of the CPNM and the People’s Liberation Army and their allies.
This is the result of tens of years of exemplary, brave and shining preparatory work in the political, ideological and organisational fields on the basis of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
LAL SALAAM to the brave and heroic Comrades!
The successes are a matter of increasing concern, not only to the feudal royal dictatorship of Nepal but also to the imperialist and reactionary forces all over the world. The imperialists and their running dogs, and especially the ‘United States of Aggression’ (USA), intervene in the internal affairs of Nepal by the delivery of arms and ‘counter insurgency’ advisors.
The victories, courage and political intelligence encourage the whole international communist movement. They prove that communism is alive and is the only alternative for the decaying capitalist, reactionary and imperialist system that produces wars, poverty, unemployment, fascism and racism, national oppression and ecologic catastrophes.
Revisionism and opportunism fight against this process, they work to divide and oppose the people’s war, to separate authentic Maoist communist parties in both epicenters of revolution. Revisionism and opportunism, although if they hail solidarity to peoples’ war, they do it to give a coating of Maoism to a line that negates the creative application.
That march forward of the popular masses in Nepal is hailed by different initiatives of proletarians, women, youth in person, who, there where the party is present, organize enthusiastic and struggling meetings, embodying the authentic spirit of proletarian internationalism, that is, the unity, the real embrace of proletarians and masses who are constructing, in the midst of struggles and people’s war, a world without imperialism and exploitation, without wars and oppressions, a world of freedom and democracy of masses that embodies in a society that stays in the hands of the proletariat and in the communism.
The Communist Party of Nepal Maoist shall progress to final victory and further develop the great contribution to the international struggle for democracy, national liberation, socialism and finally communism.
