Samudaya.org » Audio & Video » Kiran Nepal speaks in New York
HimalKhabar.com was launched in an attempt to provide instant news to Nepalis in their own language, Nepali. The effect of receiving news in your own tongue is significantly different from receiving the same in English, editor Kiran Nepal, who also reports for Himal Khabarpatrika, had explained at its launch ceremony on February 1st, 2006. Prior to the launch of the site, the only one providing instant news bulletins was NepalNews.com, which offers its content in English. The site would also be a way to embrace the rising medium of the tomorrow, he had said—the internet. Since then news bulletins (using unicode) and images have been posted and viewed on the site at an incredible speed.
Editor Nepal is on a US-sponsored tour for selected Nepali journalists, and he spoke today in New York in a program organized by NY-based Nepali paper Nepali Aawaz.

that was indeed a comprehensive history of journalisim post 1990. The point made is simple, greater the freedom better the journalisim.
Nepal should have talked more about the kinds of journalisim that is being developed in Nepal.
One of point he made that really intrigued me was, our generation and especially us who live in usa really dont know what is to censure ourselves. or rather the root meaning of the world itself. isnt that something to think abt?
